Kitty Drew
With a background in theater arts, Kitty began her career running a custom-design leather clothing business for five years. Her passion for creativity led her to design an award-winning float for Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and spend a decade crafting large-scale decorations for a local Vacation Bible School. In 1980, Walter and Kitty Drew co-founded the Institute for Self Active Education, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming learning environments. Through this initiative, they redesigned classrooms, operated the Reusable Resources Adventure Center, and continued to collaborate with educators, parents, and administrators to promote child-centered curricula and the power of open-ended play for learners of all ages.
